“Everyone is a moon and has a dark side which he never shows to anybody.”
– Mark Twain
If you’ve read my stories, you know that I love showing my dark side. But most would agree that just because you have a dark side doesn’t mean you’re tapped into it 24/7. For me, my dark and horrific side is only saved for my stories. In real life, I’m up there with Scooby Doo and Shaggy. Scary movies? I scream through them all. Haunted houses? You’ll never find me in one. Ghosts? Don’t come rapping at my chamber door cause I won’t answer. In fact, I won’t even be in the room. I’ll be jumping out the window dialing Ghostbusters. When someone says “when one door closes, another one opens,” first thing that comes to my mind is “your place is haunted, don’t invite me over.”
So with Halloween right around the corner, it’s safe to say my nerves are shot. And this year is the 666th year that Halloween falls on a Friday. Yay. 😛
But Halloween doesn’t always have to be a fright fest.
In fact, costumes nowadays are more slutty than gory. Want to be a sexy vampire? Put a skanky black dress on and add fangs. Want to be a sexy pirate? Put a skanky black dress on and add an eye patch. There are reasons why ghosts aren’t a popular costume choice. Sheets cover way too much up. 😛
However, just because the dead might be wandering the earth that night doesn’t mean you can’t have a good time. Dress up, party with your friends, throw a movie scare-a-thon, drink out of the milk carton! It’s a holiday after all, and although it’s the time to be superstitious, it’s also the time to grab your broomstick and ride like its 1755!
But let’s face it. The scariest thing on Halloween are the trick-or-treaters. Have you seen any of Jimmy Kimmel’s “I Told My Kids I Ate All Their Halloween Candy” episodes? I rest my case (and this is just AFTER they rob us of our candy).
No matter how you trick or treat, or throw your monster bash, or party like a zombie, just remember to be safe. The freaks will be out, so make sure to keep your head on and use your brain rather than letting someone eat it. And…
So all and all, have fun this Halloween, friends! Party like it’s All Hallow’s Eve! Be spooky, be scary, and be safe! 😀
