A to Z Challenge - Things That Make You Go Huh

The Inspirations, Ugly Truths, and Things That Make You Go “Huh?” for Under A Melting Sun

G is for #GIVEBACK

If you haven’t read my post A Book Gives Back in 2015, then here’s the news in a nutshell:

All through Under A Melting Sun‘s 90 day pre-order period, I’m going to donate my share of the proceeds to two organizations in order to help protect and save the rain forest. Those organizations are  Amazon Watch and Cool Earth, who supports not only the Amazon but also the Congo.

Huh, right? Well, there’s going to be a slight delay that I might as well get off my chest now. I’m was hoping to start the pre-orders in late spring/early summer, but because I’m a perfectionist and I believe this story still needs some work so it can put its best foot forward, there’s a good chance that the pre-orders will start during summer, pushing the release date to early or even mid-fall. I hate to do that, but I’d rather wait a couple months to make sure this novel is spot on with its purpose in life than rush it and ruin a good story line. There’s enough mediocre reads out there, and I for one do not want to contribute to it. I’ll just have to prove to you that some things are worth waiting for. 😉

Why it may deter you: You might think that this #GiveBack campaign is a complete shenanigan, in which I really wouldn’t blame you. There’s already an overwhelming amount of charities to donate to, not to mention a lot of people who base things off of broken promises. There’s going to be some people out there I will never be able to persuade, even if I could get Amazon.com themselves to give up their portion of the proceeds. But just because I can’t tell you about my sincerity doesn’t mean I can’t show you. I encourage everyone to watch me with a critical eye through those 90 days so that when you see it happen, you’ll know that we took a step in the right direction in helping to preserve one of the world’s greatest environments.

Why it may not deter you: If you’re an avid reader AND someone who loves contributing to a good cause, then this is right up your alley. There’s nothing like the gratification of lending a helping hand and getting to read a new book in the process. 😉

  1. As I’ve told you before, I thinkthis is a fantastic idea.
And I agree if you need some more time to polish the novel, you shoudl do it. This is a professional thinking and I think it’ll pay off 🙂

  2. What a wonderful idea–not only a crazy good read, as we all know it will be, but also one that has a direct effect! Wonderful!
