Updates and Upgrades

Hello, lovelies! πŸ’•

I’ve come bearing exactly what the title of this blog post says: updates and upgrades!

I’ve been a little MIA on social media over the summer, but that’s because life decided to upgrade on me. I ended up starting a new job at the beginning of June, which has been busy and amazing and a little scary and routine breaking, to say the least. As most know, a new job can cause a lifestyle change, and that’s exactly what’s been happening this summer. Very happy to join this new crew, but still miss my old work family and my routines, which was hard because I’m a diehard creature of habit. However, over the last month, I’ve been able to carve out a new routine, which has definitely been a challenge to keep but finally getting into the swing of things (having to get up at 3 a.m. just to get my workouts in has been a nIgHtMaRe…πŸ‘»).

I also spent a little over a week building my new desktop computer. I was highly supervised, so don’t think that I did it all by myself. πŸ˜… The first PC I built (again, highly supervised) almost 13 years ago finally reached the point of no return with Microsoft since it wouldn’t let me update to Windows 11, which caused a slow chain reaction of programs to either become clunky or stop working completely, like my Adobe PDFs. While I wanted to just switch out parts, neither my husband nor I realized how much things had advanced when it came to building computers until we (mostly he) started looking into what needed to be updated. Long story short, we ended up having to start from scratch.

Because I’m very proud of this PC, here’s a tour of what’s inside:

Then, there’s the glamour shot:

Here’s the upgraded comparison between my old PC we built and the new one:

And yes, my PCs have both been named Orion, after my favorite constellation. And because I’m a Greek Mythology nerd, I of course named my laptop Artemis. You could say that I use both to “hunt” for facts to put in my stories. πŸ˜†

I told you I’m a nerd. You were warned.

Now to the book updates. 😎

Needless to say, I did fall behind on completing A Cursed Age, considering I wanted it done in June and here we are in August with 20 chapters still left to write. But considering I’m about 70% done with this book – not to mention that I did complete All the Blood Spilt in a month, and that book had over 20 chapters – I’m set to have this manuscript completed by the end of August. 😁 Which means that there’s a good chance I’ll have ARCs ready around October or beginning of November. Fingers crossed!

As for the release date, I am unfortunately looking more towards end of April next year at this point, though it all depends on how long the overall editing process takes. I hate to push it out far, but I also would be embarrassed if I didn’t give this book the full attention it needs, especially since I’ve already put over 105,000 words down. So, unfortunately, that’s the release date we’re heading towards. πŸ™ƒ

But in the meantime, for those who want to peek into what’s in store with this book, there’s this moody book playlist on Spotify just for A Cursed Age. πŸ™ This monstrous book definitely has a vibe, and this playlist depicts it perfectly, with a few songs that actually helped curate some scenes. πŸ‘€

And just like that, you’re all up to date! 😁 See you in a couple months, peeps! Stay safe and stay reading! ❀️
